Electrical Estimator

Immediate Employment Opportunity with an Electrical Contractor for an experienced Electrical Estimator.

Job Description to include, but not limited to: Prepare electrical estimates for construction projects. Be responsible for working with subcontractors and suppliers during the bid process in order to obtain complete bid package information. Work in conjunction with the Estimating Team to prepare accurate bid proposals. Review the project documents for value analysis suggestions. Work with the Estimating Team and the client to review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate. Good conceptual estimating capabilities are a plus, work with a Project Manager to ensure that projects are kept on schedule and on budget. Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.

Must have substantial demonstrable experience with take-offs electrical drawings, and applying the take-off process. Must be committed to working in a team atmosphere, must have the ability to work fluently with PlanGrid, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with commercial electrical codes. Upon employment, you must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Applicants must have the ability to take initiative and work independently while also collaborating in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, for working with the internal team, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.

Duties:

  • Performing Takeoffs and estimates for commercial buildings, hospitals, medical facilities, office buildings, schools, hospitality, restaurants, and industrial projects.
  • Requesting quotes for gear and lighting from suppliers
  • Creating detailed proposals and following up on bids regularly
  • Coordinating with the project manager and executive team
  • Communicate effectively with clients and suppliers
  • Assist the Project Manager and team in managing and coordinating projects until closeout

Qualifications

  • Must have knowledge of NEC Code
  • Must have prior computer software-based estimating experience, preferred Trimble Accubid
  • Be professional, reliable and a hard-working self-starter
  • Have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management or similar studies or high school equivalent combined with field experience
  • Must be detail-oriented, a good communicator, and be able to accurately read construction drawings and specs
  • Able to take direction
  • Presentable and well-spoken
  • Good time management skills and organization skills
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Outlook/Word required
  • Licensed Journeymen Electrician a plus

The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of experience estimating small to multi-million dollar projects in the commercial and residential sectors, both private and public. The types of projects could include commercial buildings, medical facilities, office, hospitality, industrial, and restaurants.
